The Green Room creates an immersive design in The Garden
of Tomorrow, the largest expansion in the history of a 175-acre
botanical garden in Norfolk, Virginia. As a living repository of rare,
endangered, and threatened plant species from the tropical and
arid regions of the world, the Garden of Tomorrow’s 26,000 square
foot desert and tropical biomes collect and share horticultural
species for today’s visitors and future generations.
In a desert biome, a dry landscape rolls underfoot as if a pathway
was dropped into a natural desert canyon. In a tropical biome,
visitors explore threatened species immersed beneath a dense
humid canopy. The immersive spaces allow visitors to experience
connections with nature. The plant collection fosters the
biodiversity of the planet and creates awareness of the human
impact on threatened species.
