Lucas Ayers
Project Manager + Designer

Working toward the design of natural and self-sustaining microclimates for clients, Lucas prepares CAD drawings for most of The Green Room’s projects. He hand draws renderings and creates concept plans, elevations, and perspectives in Photoshop to enable clients to visual the finished landscape. He coordinates with contractors, clients, and municipalities, and manages geolocation surveys and data conversion, assisting with QA-QC for final construction documents. Lucas is an Arizona native.

With enthusiasm for nature, Jonathan collaborates with colleagues to create well-informed functional design solutions for clients. Valuing faith, family, and friendship, he believes a sense of place is interwoven with the experiences and stories tied to a space and sees design as an effort to grow and improve everyday relationships with nature, family, and the built world. Jonathan is originally from the Pacific Northwest and has lived in South Dakota.

He has expertise in private and commercial projects, including master-planned communities, multi-family housing, and industrial developments. As a Phoenix native Roberto brings hands-on experience with local landscaping companies and combines knowledge of regional plants, irrigation systems, and installation techniques with a strong commitment to inclusive, sustainable, and equitable design.

As a designer and project coordinator, Finlay contributes to the studio’s vision with curiosity, rigor, and a drive to grow. He supports projects across all phases, from schematic design and graphics to construction details and documentation, bringing clarity and care to each stage. Inspired by naturalists and artists, Finlay draws from landscape, culture, and ecology to create experiences that intrigue and delight. Respected as the studio’s design lead and one of the industry’s most imaginative designers of landscape, Charlie connects “big nature” with architecture to create immersive experiences that foster a deeper engagement with nature. He brings together clients, collaborators, and teammates to expand the range of artistic perspectives. His landscape designs are timeless, ephemeral, ecological – and ever-evolving. Drawing inspiration from nature and natural forms – and his multidisciplinary education in architecture, fine arts, and the neuroscience of design – Charlie crafts elevated and harmonious atmospheres for clients and the people who experience outdoor spaces. As he imagines the studio’s future, he continually considers innovative ways of thinking and approaches to producing exceptional work.

Matt Thomas

As a lead designer and landscape architect, Matt is responsible for the quality of all projects. He guides the team on new design directions and prioritizes tasks and deadlines to ensure the success of every landscape design and client relationship. With a special interest in micro-watershed management strategies, he integrates sustainability best practices in the firm’s work. He is inspired by the rewilding of urban areas and mitigating the environmental impact of human activities to bring people closer to nature today and for the future.

We design modern landscapes that call attention to the sensory and atmospheric qualities of the outdoor spaces of significant residences, commercial buildings, and public spaces. We draw upon a diverse palette of hardscape materials to supply texture and form; with our expertise in horticulture we select plantings adapted to each landscape’s microclimate.

Our sensitivity to water conservation, habitat creation, biodiversity, and ecosystem health fosters co-habitation between humans, animals, and beneficial insects.
