Echo House
A midcentury jewel in the red rocks of Camelback Mountain
Arrival is marked by frosted glass panels set within the home’s beams, guiding visitors to the entry. A linear fountain flows beside sculptural yucca, adding rhythm to the pool terrace. The pool itself reaches toward the wash, where water meets desert and reflections shift with the light.
A reclaimed ironwood, relocated from a site once marked for development, anchors the edge in a steel planter among prickly pear. Nearby, the spa hovers as a vessel apart, offering intimacy and pause. Below, a sunken garden conceals a kitchen, fire circle, and private lounge, where salvaged saguaro spears stand proud, echoing the mountain skyline.
Water from pool and spa spills gently into the garden, while a custom steel fence protects without enclosing, allowing wildlife to pass through. Native and desert-adapted plantings, joined by the sound of moving water, create a sanctuary where architecture, landscape, and ecology flow together.
