In the heart of uptown Phoenix, The Green Room harmonizes a lush landscape with the distinct architectural features of a mid-century modern bungalow.

The low-water use landscape is reminiscent of a modern-era California garden. The master design emphasizes the existing pool and its off-axis position, working with the home and a subtly cantilevered wood deck that serves as the pivot point of the backyard space.

Pattern and texture are layered horizontally and a raised steel planter running the pool’s length elevates sculptural plantings of yucca and agave. A custom concrete grilling station with open bar top affords views to the landscape beyond.

The board-formed concrete seat wall and fire table bring the warmth of wood with the durability of a composite material. Modular concrete pads adjacent to specimen accents connect spaces in a calming organization scheme, making the landscape design integral to the home.
